Hello, and welcome to my shop, to be known henceforth as the Dave Walker Shop (or similar).<\/p>
I\u2019m a cartoonist and illustrator living in Langdon Hills, Essex, to the east of London, UK. I started drawing cartoons in college when I should have been writing essays about theology. Approx 25 years later, and having been a youth worker and website editor along the way, I\u2019m still drawing, and in fact I\u2019ve been doing this to make a living for over 18 years, if my maths is right.<\/p>
There's nothing I love more than getting out into the outdoors, often walking, but most especially on a bike. As a result, in recent years much of my drawing work has been on the theme of cycling and active travel, and so it\u2019s these themes that I\u2019ve focussed on for my new clothing range.
I\u2019m a huge believer in the power of bicycles and other pedal-powered machines as a brilliant way of travelling short distances. As the climate crisis intensifies, replacing short car journeys by walking or cycling has never been more important for those that can. But actually, going from A to B by bike is also fun, inexpensive, and good for physical and mental health (and that really isn't an exhaustive list). I'd be really happy if my work played some tiny part in getting that message Over the course of my drawing career I haven\u2019t made a big part of my living by selling \u2018stuff\u2019, as, if you\u2019re like me, your home is already full of too many things. That said, most of us need to buy clothes every now and then. I first discovered Teemill a couple of years ago, and started an online store in (approx) 2018, but at the time had other things I really needed to be doing to make my living, so I didn\u2019t continue.<\/p>
Fast forward to 2023, when I started to create smaller, punchier designs as well as the reasonably complex, occasionally rambling and multi-captioned diagrams I'd been tending to produce until that point. It seemed like some of these simple bike-based designs might work well on t-shirts, and enable people who love cycling as a way to get from A to B to communicate about what they stand for. An interesting t-shirt can be a good way of expressing who you are and opening conversations, and I hope these designs will do just that.<\/p>
There are so many good reasons for choosing Teemill as the partner for a shop. In summary, I love the fact they put some much energy into making sure their processes are ethically and environmentally top-notch, and to me that\u2019s absolutely crucial if I'm going to be doing this kind of thing.<\/p>
The cotton is organic, the factories are powered by renewables, and the packaging is plastic free. In particular the fact that Teemill has embraced the 'Circular Economy' concept is brilliant - everything is designed to be sent back for reuse, and products made using that recycled material are available via the Remill range, some of which are included in my shop. So if you\u2019re going to buy a t-shirt, one of mine or someone else\u2019s, I do genuinely think that Teemill are great people to buy it Yes, there's a lot<\/em> of potential combinations of style, design, and colour, and haven't added them all. But if you have something in mind please do let me know<\/u><\/a>, and I'll make it possible if I can.<\/p>
Sizing is out of my hands, I\u2019m afraid. Teemill decide what is available in what sizes, and I know they have made big strides in this area in the last 5 years. If it's a larger women's size that you want, then the Relaxed-fit top<\/u><\/a> does go up to a 24 in some colours. In men's there's a longer-fit t-shirt<\/u><\/a>, which is my personal favourite (and the one I'm wearing in some of the publicity shots for this site). That said: if you still can't find what you're after do let me know, and I\u2019ll see whether there\u2019s an alternative garment that I could add that does come in the size you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>
There's a page with all of the details<\/u><\/a> (scroll down to the questions), but in summary UK postage starts at \u00a34.50 at the time of writing, and there are options to pay more and receive your order more quickly. UK delivery is free for orders over \u00a350. There are options for delivery to the EU and a lot of other countries - see the list on the aforementioned page.<\/p>
